Hey y’all. I spent the weekend at a workshop called How to Build a Joyful Writer’s Habit and came away with a huge revelation I wanted to share. Here it is: I am so bad (reframe in a growth mindset: I am learning how to be good) at giving myself rewards.
These are great rewards. It's also nice to build those into the writing ritual. A nice cup of tea or snack while writing, a really nice pen, good music, going to a favourite comfortable spot. (Prepandemic, I used to write from a favourite cafe that had this really awesome sandwich. Because I could always motivate myself into getting that sandwich.)
