Why we're not imposters
For over a decade, I have been saying that our democracy is not broken, it’s working exactly as it was designed to. In service of wealthy, white people, more specifically men.
“In truth, we don’t belong because we were never supposed to belong,” say Ruchika Tulshyan and Jodi-Ann Burey in this excellent article.
“Imposter syndrome directs our view toward fixing women at work instead of fixing the places where women work,” say the authors.
In other words, the system failed us. So the next time you feel that self-doubt about whether you belong, ask yourself: Is it imposter syndrome or white supremacy?
Until next time,
