A periodic roundup of my favorites…
What I’m listening to: The Ms. Marvel Soundtrack is phenomenal, with something for everyone. I particularly love Eva B.’s Rozi and Riz Ahmed’s Deal with It. This might be my summer soundtrack.
What I’m watching: My now-Substack-famous kid and I devoured The Summer I Turned Pretty, the adaptation of Jenny Han’s series. It’s a perfect summer show, complete with beach scenes, teen and adult romance, friendship and family dynamics.
What I’m reading: I just finished Jessamine Chan’s The School for Good Mothers, a disturbing look at how society demands perfection of mothers. And am ready to dig into Brown Girls, by Daphne Palasi Andreades, about immigrant girls in Queens.
Happy listening, reading and watching!

Summer Hit List
Thanks for putting this roundup together, Sayu. I actually thought you were referring to the web series, “Brown Girls,” which was picked up by HBO a few years ago. I’m realizing now it hasn’t come out, so I’m wondering what happened.
